First Annual New York Sephardic Jewish Book Fair

July 25, 2010

This all-day event, sponsored by the American Sephardi Federation, included book readings, author signings, book sales and tours at the Center for Jewish History. The event brought together authors and book lovers that write about and enjoy books relating to the culture, history, philosophy, religion, languages and experiences of the Sephardic Jews, past and present. There were hundreds of Sephardic-oriented books, including both new and hard to find titles, as well as antiquarian books. During the event, nine visiting authors discussed a wide range of topics including personal histories, Sephardic history, philosophy, culture and religion, some read directly from their books. People came from all over New York and New Jersey, and by and large, there was an atmosphere of fun and excitement; we are already looking forward to the 2011 Sephardic Jewish Book Fair!
